十二怒汉与十二公民
《十二公民》是一部很好的翻拍片。但其实,由于题材和布景的简单和直接了当,任何一部《十二怒汉》的翻拍片都几乎都能获得成功,这在很大程度上是剧本的功劳。我没有想到徐昂几乎是完全照搬了原片中的每一个细节,折叠刀插在桌上的方式,瘸腿老人的叙述,陪审员落座的排位,连“十二点十分”的故事细节都没有改动。话剧导演出身的他更像是在话剧舞台上讲述着这个故事,空旷而密闭的空间,对灯光和舞台色彩的运用,还有十二个充满话剧腔的演员,可以完全照搬到人艺舞台上而不用做任何变动。这么看来,这部电影的原创性就很弱了。故事发生在没有采用英美法系的中国,所以只能在模拟的环境中进行。然而当下审.查的严苛,让影片不得不加入了更和谐的情节;豆瓣上方聿南的影评将其称之为“社会阶层之间和和解”,可见当今中国不同阶层之间的价值观不融入到了何种程度。案件把贫民窟里长大的嫌疑人改成富二代也是很有趣的:美国是仇穷,中国则是仇富。对外地人的歧视、对大款与大学生之间爱情的偏见,背后都是沉重的社会原因。可惜的是,这部片子与美国原片最大的区别在于,美国的版本是立足于现实主义的基础上的,每部看过这部片子的美国公民都能受到普法的教育,从而推动了整个社会的发展;而在中国,这部片子建立在虚幻的和谐基础上,最后徐昂自己喜欢的“五讲四美树新风”片段,是我们一直以来梦寐以求的,也是一直没有完成的目标。最后八号陪审员的身份亮出是点睛之笔:他为什么对嫌疑人的审判如此谨慎,又如此激情?他有什么样的过去?联系到中国目前逐渐付出的一系列错案冤案,耐人寻味。我的美国同事三天两天都能在邮箱里接到陪审员通知的信。这是美国公民的义务,每个人都必须完成。公司也规定有Jury Duty,可以让员工请假去参加陪审团。接到书面通知,只是第一步而已,他们到法院还要接受被告方的挑选,才能进入最后的12人名单里。在这一步上,我的同事无一例外都落选了;可见这个初选名单有多大,又可见陪审员挑选的工作是多么谨慎。
